MSN Application Process

STUDENTS MUST apply and be accepted by the Hardin-Simmons University Graduate program. Application to PHSSN may be submitted at the same time.

FULL ADMISSION to graduate study in Nursing requires meeting each of the three academic standards as listed below and receiving the endorsement of the program director. All students must complete the PHSSN Application for Admission.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Entrance test score: Graduate Record Examination 850 minimum verbal and quantitative. All students are required to take the GRE.
  • Overall undergraduate GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale in all undergraduate coursework in Nursing.
  • Proof of ACLS Provider Certification (FNP Option Only).
  • Completed PHSSN Health Form.
  • Proof of health insurance coverage.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • Proof of RN licensure in the State of Texas.
  • Copy of transcript for university of Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

 Please note: Admissions to the MSN program does not guarantee admissions to the FNP Program.

PROVISIONAL ADMISSION to graduate study in Nursing requires the Graduate Record Exam, meeting one of the two GPA academic standards listed above, and obtaining departmental endorsement. Students granted Provisional Admission must maintain a 3.00 GPA during their first 9 hours of graduate study. The applicant is encouraged to submit the application and all supporting documents by June 1 to receive full consideration for admission to the fall graduate course work.
