Message from the Dean
Dear Future Nurse:
Thank you for your interest in the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program.
PHSSN is a consortium of Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University, and McMurry University. PHSSN is the only intercollegiate program in the nation that serves three private universities and has become a model for other programs seeking to efficiently provide a high quality professional program in nursing. Students complete core courses at one of the three universities then apply for admission to the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing in the spring semester of their sophomore year. Admission to the Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing is competitive and is based on grade point average, faculty recommendation, entrance examination, and faculty interview.
As a student, you will have the opportunity for hands-on experience in more than 25 available clinical settings as well as classroom lectures to prepare you for a promising career as a nurse. We look forward to discussing our program and helping you plan for your future career in nursing.
Sincerely,
Nina Ouimette, RN, EdD
Dean and Associate Professor

Communication
One of my favorite things about Hardin-Simmons is the small community. I also love the diverse activities and organizations on campus that are available for students.
