Melody Rich
Melody Rich, soprano, holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied with Gilda Cruz-Romo, Rose Taylor, and David Garvey. She earned the BM (Vocal Performance) from the University of Texas at San Antonio where she studied with Linda Poetschke. Dr. Rich has taught at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of the Incarnate Word, at Interlochen Arts Camp for the University of Michigan All-State Musical Theatre and Choral Program, and also maintains a private voice studio. As a soloist, Dr. Rich has concertized extensively in both the classical and contemporary genre with numerous organizations including the San Antonio Symphony, the San Antonio Choral Society, the Texas Chamber Consort, the Laredo Philharmonic, Musical Bridges Around the World, and the Austin Lyric Opera Young Artist Program. A frequent collaborator with David Kauffman and William Gokelman, she appears as a featured singer in their televised CD release concerts of Behold and Steal Away, produced by Good for the Soul Music as well as their most recent CD Follow Me. In Europe, she has performed with the AIMS Orchestra under the batons of Cornelius Eberhardt and Heiko Mathias. As a conductor, she appeared as the Assistant Conductor of the San Antonio Choral Society and as well as conductor of ensembles at UT San Antonio and choirs at Christ Episcopal Church. Her entry appears in numerous editions of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in Fine Arts Higher Education, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), of the American and the Texas Choral Directors Associations, Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Alpha Chi National Honor Society, and the Theta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity.
