Leadership
Studies Program
The Leadership Studies Program
at Hardin-Simmons University is a unique program devoted to the
development of tomorrow's Christian leaders (Click
here to read a Range Rider article about the Leadership
Studies Program).
The Leadership Studies Program
is a multi-disciplinary minor and includes students and faculty
from all areas of campus. Students of many different majors at HSU
earn minors or take elective courses through the Leadership Studies
Program.
The faculty members who
teach in the Leadership Studies Program also come from a wide variety
of academic fields. Over the past several years, faculty members
from theology, theater, business, philosophy, criminal justice,
physical therapy, sport and recreation management, communication,
and history taught in the program. In coming years, additional faculty
from across campus will also participate.
Leadership students pursue
a rigorous program of study rooted in leadership theory, organizational
psychology, organizational sociology, and administrative theory.
Skill development is learned in communication, critical thinking,
and ethics courses and in leadership workshops.
Working with non-profit
organizations, leadership students implement and practice the concepts
that they study in the classroom by creating and performing service
projects that meet real community needs. In the Leadership Studies
Program, learning occurs both in and out of the classroom.
Guest speakers, case studies,
history courses, outdoors adventure-education courses, travel courses,
and a variety of special topics courses help complete the Leadership
Studies experience at HSU.
