Swimming Lessons
Swim Levels
Students should be able to perform the skills listed below prior to entering a particular level. Students may be re-assigned at coordinators discretion.
Pre-K Level 1: No experience necessary
Pre-K Level 2: Enter independently, travel 5 yards, submerge mouth and blow bubbles 3 seconds, glide 2 body lengths, roll to back float for 3 seconds. (ALL CAN BE PERFORMED WITH SUPPORT)
Pre-K Level 3: Meet Pre-K Level 2. Front glide 2 body lengths, back float 5 seconds and recover. Swim using combined arm/leg action on front 3 body lengths, back float 5 sec. roll to front and swim 3 body lengths (ALL CAN BE PERFORMED WITH ASSISTANCE)
Level 1: Independently enter and exit pool , float on back for 5 sec. roll to front float for 5 sec and recover. Swim using combined arm/leg actions for 5 body lengths.
Level 2: Meet Level 1 criteria, glide on front 2 body lengths, roll to back float and recover. Travel 5 yards, bob 3 times and safely exit water.
Level 3: Meet level 1-2 criteria, Step into chest-deep water, float 5 seconds, roll to back float 5 seconds and recover, push off and swim with combined arm/leg action on front 5 body lengths, float 15 sec., roll to front and continue swimming 5 body lengths.
Level 4: Meet level 1-3 criteria. Jump into deep water, swim front crawl 15 yards. Tread or float 30 seconds and swim elementary backstroke 15 yards.
Level 5: Meet level 1-4 criteria. Perform feetfirst entry in deep water, swim front crawl 25 yds., change direction and swim elementary backstroke 25 yds. Swim breaststroke 15 yds, change direction swim back crawl 15 yds.
Guard Start: Prep course for lifeguarding, for ages 13 & 14, materials and daily snacks are provided.
