HSU Honors students are highly motivated, inquisitive, responsible individuals who enjoy the challenge of learning about themselves and their place in the world around them.
Students entering the Honors Program as freshmen have typically done well in secondary education, may have assumed leadership roles, or otherwise distinguished themselves through individual achievement (e.g. made good grades, taken Advanced Placement classes, scored well on placement tests, received other recognition).
Students who are accepted into the program after the freshman year have proven their commitment to intellectual growth through exceptional achievement at the collegiate level.
Honors students are expected to participate actively in campus life: religious and social activities, forms of entertainment, intramural or NCAA sports programs.
While Honors students often achieve advancement through standardized means, they need not be satisfied with cookie-cutter conventionality.
