Hardin-Simmons University is pleased to be the first in Texas to offer an entry-level professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. A new class for the 7-semester, 2 1/2 year, professional degree begins each fall. It is not necessary for applicants to hold a master's degree.
This entry-level professional degree prepares the graduate to be eligible for licensure and entry into the profession as a physical therapist. Applications are accepted year round until the class is full. For entering freshmen or transfer students to HSU, please contact the Admissions Office. For students with a completed degree who would like more information about the Physical Therapy Doctorate, please contact the Department of Physical Therapy.
HSU provides a great environment for learning. The Mabee Hall PT building houses state of the art classrooms and laboratories for Anatomy, Applied Physiology, EMG, Musculoskeletal Rehab, and a Learning Resource Center.
An outstanding faculty is dedicated to teaching excellence and offers students personalized attention. HSU students have received national and state recognition as recipients of the Mary McMillan Outstanding Student in the U.S. Award, the Rex Nutt Outstanding Student in the State of Texas Award, the Outstanding Minority Scholar and the Young Investigator of the Year Award from the National Medical Performing Arts Society. Many manage their own clinics, hold management positions, and all are successful clinicians.
