• Ira M. Taylor Memorial Gallery

    Ira M. Taylor Memorial Gallery was dedicated and named for Ira M. Taylor on November 6, 1993. As a teacher for 23 years prior to his death in 1993, Professor Taylor served 21 of those years as chair of the department. He had a conviction of a strong relationship between art and his Creator and effectively communicated that conviction to his students, colleagues, and other friends with confidence and sensitivity. His vision was instrumental in making the Frost Center for the Visual Arts a reality in 1987.

    Currently on display is a series of selected work by students of Abilene photographer and artist, Bill Wright. “In July, 2007, photographer Bill Wright was invited to Afghanistan by Aschiana, an Afghan NGO, to teach photography to street kids who had been “rescued” by the organization.

    Casey D. Cooper was born in Amarillo, Texas. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. Shortly after his undergraduate studies he attended Texas A & M University – Corpus Christi where he received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture.Casey soon entered the Public Art scene and currently has pieces in Carbondale Colorado, Corpus Christi, Texas and is finishing up a piece to be installed at the Bartholomew Municipal Pool in Austin, Texas. He currently has his studio set up in San Antonio, Texas where he also teaches Design Fundamentals and Color Fundamentals at the collegiate level.
