Ira M. Taylor Memorial Gallery

Ira M. Taylor Memorial Gallery was dedicated and named for Ira M. Taylor on November 6, 1993. As a teacher for 23 years prior to his death in 1993, Professor Taylor served 21 of those years as chair of the department. He had a conviction of a strong relationship between art and his Creator and effectively communicated that conviction to his students, colleagues, and other friends with confidence and sensitivity. His vision was instrumental in making the Frost Center for the Visual Arts a reality in 1987.

Diana Byers
Artist’s Reception: Sept. 20, 5:00-6:30 pm

Diana Byers received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts with a concentration in photography from Texas A&M University –Corpus Christi and currently teaches at Del Mar College. Intertwined is her investigation of therelationship of memory, loss and the interconnecting themes between each element. She combines the use of alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype with encaustic mediums and found objects.

Tristan Schober

Currently on display is a new series of work by artist and professor Tristan Schober that includes drawing, sculpture and site specific installation. Tristan is a graduate of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and currently teaches drawing at Coastal Bend College in Beeville, Texas. Her work explores nature, life and emotion through the use of various materials and mediums.

Gregory Teagarden

Currently on display is a selection of large, ceramic work by artist and professor Gregory Tegarden, who has recently been named Instructor of Ceramics at Sul Ross State University, in Alpine, TX. Tegarden’s work reveals his passionate connection to nature. “Creatively my pots are derived from the desert, specifically the Big Bend region of the Chihuahuan Desert. The desert, for me, represents the purest form of divinity.”
