Social Work Club Officers for 2015-2016

    • Katherine Park - President
My name is Katherine Park, and I will be serving this year as the president for the Social Work Club! I am a junior from Montgomery, Texas, with a social work major and a leadership studies minor. I am involved on campus through Alpha Iota Omega, the Spurs Dance Team, the Leadership Studies Program, and as an RA, as well as in the community through Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. I have a passion for serving others through the talents and abilities God has given me, and I can't wait to see how God uses the Social Work Club to serve our community this year!
    • Annie Webb - Vice President
My name is Annie Webb and I will be serving as the Vice-President for the Hardin-Simmons University Social Work Club for this year. I am from Coppell, Texas but Abilene has definitely become my home. I am a senior completing my field placement at Noah Project this year. I am part of the Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work participating here at Hardin-Simmons in the Sigma Beta chapter. I am also very involved with my church community, Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, participating in their college leadership team. Serving the Lord and others are my biggest goals and I love that I get to do that through the Social Work profession.
    • LaKia Shepherd - Secretary
My name is LaKia Shepherd but I go by Kia. I am serving as the Secretary for HSU Social Work Club this year. I’m from a small town in East Texas called Center. I absolutely love being a student at Hardin-Simmons! I am a senior Social Work major, and will complete my field placement with AISD as a Case Manager. In my opinion, social work is larger than my life and I hope this year to meet lots of new students and learn their culture!
    • Diana Hall - Treasurer
My name is Diana Hall, I am a Junior Social Work Major and will be serving as Treasurer this year. I was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey but grew up in Merritt Island, FL. I arrived in Abilene, TX in 2005 thanks to Uncle Sam. In 2013, I retired from the Air Force and became a student at HSU. I have been married to my husband and love of my life, Roger, for 21 years. Our son Tyler is a senior at Wylie HS and plans to attend HSU next year. One of the important lessons I learned in the Air Force is that you have to grow where you are planted or you will never be successful or happy in life. I didn’t start out a Social Work student, the profession choose me. I look forward to finishing my education and starting on my second career as a School Social Worker. I also serve as the Interim West Central Texas Branch Chair for NASW and Sergeant of Arms, HSU Military Veterans.
    • Micaela Stevens - Photographer
My name is Micaela Stevens, and I am super excited to be serving as photographer for the Social Work Club this year! I am a junior from Graham, Texas, though I grew up in Vancouver, Washington. I am a Social Work major, hoping to go into adoption with a focus on older kids that end up getting "stuck" in the system. I'm very excited to get to know all of you and to take pictures of all the amazing things we get to do in Social Work Club! Let's all have a great year!
