Scholarships
The HSU Department of Philosophy offers two academic scholarships to students majoring or minoring in Philosophy.
- Mrs. Pansy Bond established the W. Truett Walton Endowed Scholarship in Philosophy for philosophy majors and minors in honor of "Dean" Walton, who taught philosophy at Hardin-Simmons from 1927 to 1968. Recipients of this award are designated "Walton Scholars" in philosophy for the academic year.
- The Dr. Clyde J. & Mrs. Kathleen C. Hurst Endowed Scholarship for Philosophy is awarded to outstanding philosophy majors and minors.

Both scholarships are awarded on the basis of a student's academic record and an expressed interest in studying Philosophy at HSU.
Students must have a 3.0 grade point average to be eligible for scholarships in philosophy. In addition, only students who have submitted a degree plan or discussed their degree plan with their advisors are eligible for scholarships in philosophy.
