On Friday, Hardin-Simmons University students, faculty, and staff came to the Taste of the World luncheon in the Moody Student Center to experience flavors from around the globe.

Lunch included food made by international students who brought traditional food from their home countries. More than a dozen countries were represented at Taste of The World including Malaysia, China, the Philippines, Mexico, Rwanda, Thailand, Japan, and the United States. Community members lined up early for the popular event.

Hailey McNally, a junior Communications Sciences and Disorders major from Abilene, attended because “learning about different cultures that are represented here on campus is super cool.”

The international students held the first Taste of The World experience last fall. Organizers said food can unite people and they wanted to showcase HSU’s cultural diversity though the event.

Olivia Bodiford, a junior nursing major from Fort Worth, came to the event and thought that “sharing a meal is a good way to share culture with each other.”
