HSU Students Attend CASL Conference

Group learned leadership skills

Twenty HSU students and seven staff members attended the Christian Association of Student Leaders conference (CASL) in January 2016 at Houston Baptist University.

Participants were from many aspects of HSU campus leadership, including areas such as Greek Life, Student Government, Residence Life, and Student Activities. The CASL conference seeks to train and teach those students and staff that are involved in leadership positions by involving them in team-building exercises and idea-sharing activities in a strong, positive environment.

Students who are selected to attend CASL are often invested in promoting leadership on campus and Student Life involvement, especially newer students who have much more to gain from the experience and training provided at the conference.

The purpose behind attending the CASL conference is to encourage students (and staff) to approach leadership with a newfound excellence, furthering Student Life and Hardin-Simmons as a whole.

“I think it is important to help our students gain perspective whenever possible," said Student Activities Coordinator, Michael LeRoux. "We hope to see them come up with program ideas and solutions to problems they run into. CASL helps equip our students to live in that environment.”

CASL is an annual conference and next January it will be held at East Texas Baptist University, Marshall, TX. In 2015, HSU hosted the event.
