(Abilene, Texas) HSU’s Athletic Training students, faculty, and staff will host a workshop with Metrocare EMS to focus on athlete safety on Tuesday, August 9.

The purpose of the workshop is to prepare for potential emergencies that could occur with a student-athlete.

“We learn different techniques from each other and how to work together for the benefit of the patient,” said David Stuckey, an associate professor and director of athletic training education at HSU.

The workshop will review spinal injuries, heat illnesses, and cardiac arrest.

The training will utilize the University’s patient simulator, and HSU students and staff will also serve as simulated patients for the workshop.

This is the second year of the event, which is organized by HSU’s head athletic trainer Wade Green.
