Student Life had four trips for students to participate in over Spring Break.

Student Activities and Pioneer Drive went skiing in New Mexico and Baptist Student Ministries participated in a Beach Reach in South Padre.

The Hunters, Gatherers and Travelers (HGT) group had a sports and culture trip that combined part of their trip with the Parks and Rocks group. Among the stops for the Parks and Rocks’ trip were Zion National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and a brief stop by Disneyland.

Students had the chance to go “bouldering,” which is climbing giant rock formations, at Joshua Tree National Park and spend the night fellowshipping and worshiping at their campsite as the sun set. They took a night hike at Bryce Canyon and had awe-inspiring moments as they hiked 11 miles to Angels Landing in Zion National Park.

“The HGT program has been such a wonderful thing to be part of,” said Claudia Gutierrez, junior psychology major from Poth, Texas. “It has taught me about community. It has showed me how to work as a team, and grow in leadership, but the biggest thing it has taught me is how to be inspired to preserve and value Gods creation for upcoming generations to experience and enjoy.”

The next trip planned for the HGT group will be May term for 2016. They will fly to Oakland, California, and work their way to places such as Crater Lake National Park, the Redwoods National Park, and Mount Rainier National Park, Vancouver.
