Global Leadership Summit Coming Back to HSU

HSU serves as one of 19 live telecast host sites in Texas

 Hardin-Simmons University will host the Global Leadership Summit for the sixth time on August 11-12.

HSU serves as a premier host site for the live telecast conference. HSU is one of 19 locations in Texas allowing participants a convenient way to connect with the summit, which will be telecast from South Barrington, Illinois.

“As the premier host site for West Central Texas, the Global Leadership Summit offers the HSU and Abilene communities an opportunity to learn from diverse, world-class leaders while also engaging the application of leadership principles with area change-makers,” said James Stone, special assistant to the HSU president.

Participants can expect to hear topics such as virtues that accelerate teamwork, ingredients of successful turnarounds, building cultures that value efficiencies, executing ideas that matter most, navigating effectively through cultural differences and harnessing the power of emotional intelligence.

Participants in the summit have been known to experience improvements in teamwork, effectiveness, significance and leadership.

 “Summit attendees will be empowered and equipped to lead with greater impact wherever, and however, they serve,” said Stone.

The summit will feature speakers such as Bill Hybels, founder and senior pastor of Willow Creek Community Church; Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Bishop T.D. Jakes, founder and senior pastor of The Potter’s House; and Patrick Lencioni, bestselling author and founder of The Table Group. 

Other speakers include:

Alan Mulally who was the president and chief executive officer of the Ford Motor Company from 2006-2014. Under Mulally’s leadership Ford became the #1 automobile brand in the United States. He was named number 3 on Fortune’s “World’s Greatest Leaders” and one of TIMEMagazine’s “The World’s Most Influential People”.

Horst Schulze is the CEO of Capella Hotel Group and founding president of The Ritz-Carlton Group. He upholds standards of excellence in the hospitality and service industries. The Ritz-Carlton Group has been awarded the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award twice under his leadership.
