Fine Arts Department Holds Awards Ceremony
The Fine Arts Department held its awards ceremony on April 12.
Honors performers at the event included Lauren Maurer, of Abilene, a masters of music in performance; Jacob Wright, a senior from Tahoka majoring in music business; Stephen Jackson, a senior from Cresson majoring in applied music; Rawcilanne Campos, a senior from Fort Worth majoring in applied music; and Ruth Salazar, a senior from Grand Prairie majoring in music education.
Catherine Miller, a senior from Bryan majoring in music education, took home the Outstanding Student Teacher award.
The recipient of the Presser Scholar award was Ben Stouffer, a senior from Brenham majoring in music education. The Presser Scholar comes from a foundation set up in 1906 by Theodore Presser, the founder of The Etude magazine. The scholarship is awarded to a student showing excellence in the study of music and is chosen by the music faculty.
Pi Kappa Lambda students included Colton Rockett, a senior from Cross Plains majoring in music education; Caleb Wardle, a senior from Pilot Point majoring in music theory and composition; Vianey Gonzalez, of Abilene, post-graduate; Louise Van Mook, of Abilene, a masters of music in performance study; and Gannon Phillips, of Weatherford, a masters of music in performance study.
The event also featured a rededication of the recently renovated Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall.
