The HSU theater department held its final play for the season. Students in the Directing 1 class put together one act plays themselves to perform at the end of the spring semester.

Dakota Davis junior musical theater major from Abilene, said, “I feel it’s the most fun part of the theater department’s season. It’s not exclusively for theater majors and minors. It showcases the talent of students both inside and outside of the theater department.”

There were eight students presenting their one act plays this year. Four one act plays were performed Wednesday and Friday, and the remaining four performed Thursday and Saturday.

Brenna Sheridan a freshman musical theatre major from Fort Worth said, “I love performing and collaborating with other artists! It allows for a chance of personal growth and interdependent support.”

Each student held auditions for their one act play. Between the eight shows there were twenty spots to be filled. Following auditions students had three weeks to rehearse their one act plays.

Victoria Spangler, visiting Associate Professor of Theatre, said, “I have loved watching the students formulate their vision of their chosen play and then strive to execute it. This has been an incredibly successful Directfest in terms of audience response, attendance and favorable comments.”
